Here we are, three weeks out from leaving and it's finally starting to feel real. We both booked our summer full of work and travel so we haven't had much time to prepare ourselves for the fact that we're moving around the world in a few short weeks (!!!!). This experience is something that we've dreamed about for a long time - Jack first found out about the experience three years ago when talking to a coworker who receive a Fulbright scholarship for the Netherlands and recommended Jack look into it. We both have always wanted to live abroad but knew we couldn't go unless we were married because I wouldn't be able to stay, so we put this dream on the the back burner for a while. Flash forward three years and we're newly married and realized that we could now apply for the fellowship. Jack applied to Fulbright as well as a ton of graduate schools for Engineering, and after nine LONG months of waiting and almost committing to another graduate program, we got the call that Jack had received the fellowship. It was such a surreal feeling - dreaming about something for so long but never really thinking it's going to happen, and then one day it does happen - and we've spent the last three months counting down the days until we can leave. We're so excited for this next adventure and can't wait to travel the world together!
As of now, we have two one way tickets to the Netherlands leaving on August 10th, we know one dutch phrases ("Ik spreek Nederlands" //which mean "I speak dutch".. which we don't really), and have no idea where we're going to live once we get there. It's going to be quite the adventure!
