A Secret Garden

One of my favorite things about the Spring so far has been how warm and LIGHT it's been out at night. It doesn't get dark until around 10:45pm, which is a very big change from the 3:30pm sunsets during the winter. It's literally life changing. Instead of watching movies and falling asleep at 9pm like the in the winter, we've been spending the evenings post-dinner taking walks, riding around town, and drinking beers with the rest of Delft in the outdoor square.
After a rainy and grey day yesterday, we looked outside at 9pm and saw blue skies, felt a wonderful warm breeze and decided to go for a little ride. We rode around the northern part of Delft, which is mainly residential, and we were shocked to discover a few new alleys we haven't wandered down yet. While I was busy snapping some photos of awesome doorways and rose bushes (Delft is FULL of doorways with flowers in the spring), Jack wandered down an ugly looking alley to explore, only to pop out two minutes later with the biggest smile. "Just follow me", was all he said, and ask we rode through what seemed like people's backyards, we emerged into a SECRET GARDEN. I was floored. The sun was setting and casting the most beautiful golden light on a perfectly manicured courtyard that was filled with pink rose bushes, vine covered pergolas, and adorable dutch homes. I couldn't believe there were still parts of Delft that we hadn't discovered and even more so couldn't believe we had stumbled upon this magical place. Of course I only had my phone so the pictures don't even do it justice, but just imagine this place. A warm breeze, birds chirping, the sound of bikes riding by and church bells ringing in the distance. It was magical.

After this awesome discovery we rode through town hand in hand, still in awe and in love with this beautiful town. Delft has completely stolen our hearts and it truly one of the coolest, prettiest, most perfect places in the whole world. It's so near and dear to our hearts and we are so grateful to have been able to truly live here and make it our home.
