Swan Market // Rotterdam

One of my favorite things about the Netherlands is their love for all things vintage, crafts and recycled items. In conversation with an elderly dutch man who owns a vintage tile shop in Delft, he raved about how the Dutch do not throw away anything, that they recycle and reuse everything they can until it's useless. This way of life has created an amazing culture of vintage and handmade goods that eases my craft-loving soul. Last weekend I ventured to Rotterdam to attend the Swan Market, a lifestyle and crafts fair that was basically Esty in real life. There were hundreds of stalls with all types of crafts and goodies - bags made from bicycle tires, vintage coats, huge wall maps of every country, handmade cloth bags, vintage leather purses, knitted blankets, and jewelry of all kinds. There was live music and yummy food trucks, plus an awesome tea and coffee stall made out of a vintage Volkswagen Beetle car. Even though I didn't end up getting anything it was such an awesome afternoon celebrating crafting and creativity.
